I've been busy busy busy with a number of projects; both professional and personal...can't wait to share some images. In the meantime here are some creative holiday entrance ideas.. I just LOVE this time of year....don't you?

What's Cookin?

Keep your Thanksgiving day dinner table simple {because I'm sure you're as busy as I am} + earthy with natural decorations and layered plates in warm color tones..
Are you cooking the whole Thanksgiving she-bang? or just helping with a side dish..
I'm just helping out this year, so I've decided to bring whipped sweet potatoes a la Ina Garten..click the cookbook below for the easy recipe!

while we're on the topic of dinners..The Obamas' hosted a state dinner last night..{wouldn't you just love to experience an event like that just once in your life? } here are a couple photos via The Huffington Post. Michelle's elegant gown was appropriately design by Naeem Khan..

HAVE A WONDERFUL HOLIDAY!

Where I'd like to...

Powder my nose!
I thought I'd share a bit of elegance with you today. I especially love the wall of antiqued mirror behind the sink and that gorgeous chandelier. Very Parisian!

Which style are you?

I thoroughly enjoyed this month's issue of House Beautiful, especially fun was this breakdown of the most seen design styles today. Do you gravitate towards one? I'd say I'm an even blend of "The Glams" + "The Accessorators" with a bit of "The Ruralists" here and there for natural beauty and texture!

The Glams:
As defined in H.B.: Sexy, intense, theatrical. More is more: Turn up the color volume, pile on the bling, add a little Baroque or Roman Empire. The Gods: Kelly Wearstler, Tony Duquette, Jamie Drake, and Diamond-Baratta.

The New Victorians:
As defined by H.B.: AKA Steampunkian. The moody hipster, via East London or Seattle. Dark, Atmospheric, smoky, layeread. The found object, the reliquary, is king. Essential: The Edison Bulb. The Gods: Roman and Williams Architects.

The Accessorators:
As defined by H.B.: Tradition withouth the chintz. A flirtly, colorful mix, with a keen fashion eye. The Gods: Miles Redd, Celerie Kemble. Go to blogs: The Peak of Chic, Judi Roaman's accessorator.com, Emilyevanseerdmans.blogspot.com

The Ruralists:
As defined by H.B.: Global Country, pure, sophisticated, modern. Key Words: Artisanal, handmade, locavore. Must Haves: Fire Bowl or outdoor room, miles of linen. The Gods: Axel Vervoordt. McAlpine Tankersley Architects. Go to blogs: Rural Intelligence, Cote de texas

Tip toeing through the tulips

I'm almost finished with my "girl" nursery ideas for my soon to be arriving little one's room.{look for the post next week - the "boy" options will soon follow}. That coupled with the fact that I've been helping my sister choose paint colors for her home = me perusing what feels like hundreds of paint chips over the past couple of weeks. I thought I'd cover pink today..
Pink {like all colors} comes in endless shades.. It can get sticky sweet pretty quickly, but it's also good to take risks and have fun!

Here's a quick + simple break down with just a few of the options...
{Cooler pinks with a hint of purple}

{the paint color was listed in House Beautiful for this room as Benjamin Moore's Peach Cooler {very peach} this room photographed much cooler.
f

{Lighter hues with a hint of peach}

C

{Warmer + deeper hues with a touch of coral}

{Soft + sweet shades}
