Champagne Kissed....

I'm signing off for 2009 and very much looking forward to 2010. I think it's going to be a very exciting year both personally and professionally. The Shelter design website/new identity is launching in mid- January. I'll also continue to feature fresh ideas, amazing finds and inspiration on the Shelter-Blog.
I can't wait to share my recent projects and some photos of my home with you!!
I want to send A huge thank you to each and every-one of my readers for your support + loyalty! I wish you all the best for healthy, happy, and prosperous New Year!!
Now a little fashion/design bit. I predict that we're going to continue to see warm metallics; like gold and copper popping up everywhere in fashion and at home in 2010! {so I guess it's 010'}
Cheers xxoo, Julie

WOW - Accessory Perfection.....

While doing some quick blog cruising...I came across these "AMAZING" necklaces via Coco and Kelley. They are designed by Elva Fields!! I may just have to buy myself a pregnancy present; and since fabulous clothing is out of the question, one of these beauties may be just perfect.

A Fresh Start...

After the craziness of the holidays...I crave calmness. The limed oak floors and walls {image two} in these photos deliver just that!

Crazy Days

I know I've been a bit out of touch. My computer has a terrible virus, so I don't have my computer at the moment {I'm loosing my mind without it}. If you don't have a recent anti-virus software on your PC - I would recommend downloading one NOW! ;)

On a positive note, I thought I'd share this pretty photograph I recently purchased for a client. It's going to be a large scale image! I love the color and graphic quality of Dahlias. For more wonderful floral images visit Flanders Field here via Etsy. The photographer has been a delight to work with...

Bloggers come together - Pencils of Promise

Several bloggers are coming together today in a collaborative effort spearheaded by Paloma Contreras of La Dolce Vita, in order to make a difference for a very deserving charity. Pencils of Promise is a wonderful 501(c)(3) organization based in New York, that partners with local communities and organizations to build schools of early-stage education in developing nations for some of the world’s most impoverished and undereducated children. Sadly, there are more than 75 million children in this terrible situation worldwide.

Last December, the Pencils of Promise team visited a small village in Laos and by July 2009, they had built a new school for the village children who started attending classes on September 1st. This month, Pencils of Promise will be opening their third school and they hope to open the doors to education for more children in 2010.

In the spirit of the holiday season, we are asking for your help today on behalf of these children. Just think of the enormous impact we could have if each person who reads this post donates just $1.00. If you are willing and able to give more (35.00 buys shelves for a classroom, $50 provides pencils for one year, $100 provides a teacher’s salary for three months and so on), it would be greatly appreciated. We are in the midst of the giving season and hope that you will find it in your heart to make a donation to this worthy cause today. You can opt to donate via PayPal if you prefer. Every little bit helps and together, we can make a difference!

http://www.pencilsofpromise.org/ and click on the "Get Involved" page to donate!!

If you would like to stay informed about the difference Pencils of Promise is making, be sure to become a fan on their Facebook page.

Thank you for taking the time to read this message and for supporting a wonderful cause!

Best,

Julie Richard

Happy Holidays to us ALL..Next Lonny Launch.

Lonny's December issue is launching tomorrow !!! I love early surprises! Don't you?
xx. Julie

Oh Christmas Tree..

I'm {well really my husband is} usually schlepping home the largest tree on the lot {for me}. I love an over sized, un-groomed, natural looking tree. Our house has the ceiling height to handle it, but this year I'm feeling very preggers so I'm not sure I envision myself standing on a chair {or ladder for that matter} to decorate a 9 1/2' tree. I've been contemplating using a round zinc table in my living room to display a pretty table top tree instead! There's always next year for the 9 footer right? Then I came across this adorable table top tree on Brown Button today. This image may have sealed the deal for me. Who knows I may cave at the tree lot on Thursday and end up with a another big mama.....;) We shall see...

Feeling Inspired...

I apologize for the lack of posts! I've been busy with work, teaching, motherhood etc. I have seven weeks until my baby arrives so I'm feeling a bit of pressure to WRAP things up in my life!!

I just love inspiration boards, don't you? I can't wait to have my board + office photographed in the beginning of January. It's almost finished, it's just too dark in my office for me to capture with my digital camera. I'll be back tomorrow with an "under $50" gift guide!
