Picture Perfect - Room of the week - Happy Halloween

Could I resist a black and orange room this week?  {Salem, MA. is insane right now}. I usually flee the area at this time of year but I have three Halloween parties this weekend! Have a Happy and Safe weekend!

YUM!

I was just scanning my email and ran across my Goop newsletter. In Today's MAKE section Gwyneth shares the details of a cooking collaboration with Ina Garten. I love both Ina and Gwyneth. Ina for her creative cooking and overall approach to design and entertaining and Gwyneth because she's a chic momma in so many ways ..{plus she comes across as a pretty down to earth person}.
They prepared homemade herbed ricotta bruschette from Ina's latest cookbook, How Easy Is That? Easy and delicious? A busy mother of two little one's dream.

Classically Modern Milly

I love the classically modern look of Milly's line. I love her office, those little lucite chairs, the fabric on her settee, her use of color and pattern, her logo, .....all of it really!
Her current Fall Line is fabulous..It's looking very Chanel inspired to me.

This fitted turtle-neck would work so well with my riding boots {see Monday's post}. Seriously, I'd probably wear this once a week.

and her Resort/Spring Line!

{finding the bow a bit distracting right about now}

A passion for paper

I have a love of all things stationery/paper related. I think it's important to stay connected to people on a personal level. When I receive a hand written note or invitation I always appreciate the sentiment and time spent that goes into actually sitting and writing a quick letter or note. I'm currently loving Gadabout's illustrated note cards. Check out more of Hanna's work on her site here. She can custom design anything you'd like. hmmm I'm thinking a custom designed 1st b-day party invite may be in order for little Emerson later this winter. A pink dress, red polka dots......i'll keep you posted.

If you prefer to send a digital note or card ( I am definitely not implying that I would never do this, because I am a bit of a technology junkie too.) Hanna launched a cool i-phone application called POST that allows you to send a last minute dinner invite or card via email or SMS. The application will be live this week for i-Pad users...very clever indeed!!!! click the link below for more details.

Ride on...

I'm not buying much this Fall as far as shoes and clothing goes...but I am going to invest in a pair of fitted riding boots. They are classic, and work so well with skinny pants and jeans..Pictured are a few of my favorites. In order: Frye, Tory Burch, Frye and ? i will get back to you on this one.

I also love how timeless the sport of riding is. I secretly hope my daughter wants to ride someday.{hell maybe I'll just take riding lessons myself}. Equestrian style blends so beautifully with a classic home.

A place of one's own.

I need to make some changes at my home, so I started with my bedroom. My Mom who is the sweetest person around insisted on taking me shopping for some new bedding. I couldn't find exactly what I wanted so I opted for an all white 650 thread count duvet. I am going to splurge on two monogrammed pillow cases to add some interest to the mix.  I'm inspired by both of the above images. I want to add feminine flourishes, a bit of unexpected glamour and soft details. I also need to design a headboard. I feel some creative sketching coming on............

Have a great one! xx. J

Lantern Love - Julie Neill Designs

I've been looking for lanterns for two different projects, one local and one remote. I love the clean but classic touch a lantern adds to both traditional and modern spaces. I'm currently loving the lantern designs by New Orleans designer Julie Neill. Most of her designs and can be adjusted to fit your environment. All the lighting on her site is gorgeous. Tobi Fairley custom designed the red fixture shown above. I think it's my favorite.
