Shelter Loves...

Got to love a short week, I can't believe it is Thursday already. Here's what I am loving this today!

1. I placed an order for pair of these sconces this week. They are from Duchess and Dune and available at Hudson in Boston. (the price has increased from what is listed on the web)
2. I'm liking the simplicity of this simple summer outfit. I need a few new grey tshirts!
3. I'm continually drawn to the classic facade of black and white! I'm painting my house white btw!! image via Lonny.
4. I'd love to splurge on a chloe mini marcie bag!
5. Instead I may opt for this classic Tory bag, I'll save myself $1000!
6. How cute are these equestrian inspired items? Via Rebecca Ray.
7. My trip to Bermuda can't come soon enough...It was 49 degrees and rainy here yesterday. I actually turned my heat back on!! My boyfriend said I was a wimp...A wimp about the cold, hells yes! A warm wimp at that!!

Cottage (feel) Love #10

I had a moment to flip through the digital version of Trad Home's Spring edition this am. I love color, especially a mix of blues and greens. These shades are fresh, vibrant and livable. I'm a firm believer in taking some risks with your home decor. This way you're sure to be moved by the end result of the design! I was instantly drawn to Tamara Kaye-Honey's design of a California home......I had to share these inspiring images.

Feeling thankful.......

Lately not a day goes by that I'm not thankful for all I have in life!
I wanted to take a moment to remember and honor all of those who have made the ultimate sacrifice to ensure that we could and can continue to live in such a wonderful country!

We have the most fabulous flag don't we?

Enjoy your weekend!

the beach is always a good idea....

The latest Johnnie b catalog arrived this am. I was inspired by their photo shoot and "the beach is always a good idea"  quote this am. I also received the Mini Boden catalog and am ordering this suit for my 4 year old daughter Emerson... Their clothing is so cute and it holds up against my six year old son, which is feat in itself!

It seems the older I get the simpler I want my life to be. I haven't unpacked about fifteen boxes of things in the basement and I'm realizing I don't need most of it! I am however missing a box of my favorite accessories, that I do need to find!!

California relaxed is absolutely one of my favorite styles. This look is simple, livable and chic.. I don't want to be a slave to my home on the weekends..I want to go to the beach in the summer and ski in the winter.

Shelter Loves....

hello, hello, hello..Happy Monday!
I had lots of meeting and was away on business for a couple of days last week so I couldn't squeeze in much blogging time.

I'm feeling inspired so I hope to post everyday this week!!

Here is what's happening and what I'm lusting after this am.....

1. These chairs are sexy and fun. I like changing things up and love to design unexpected spaces, these beauties fit that bill perfectly... via House of honey
2.  How adorable is this storage idea?? Image via Style me Pretty
3.  Matty and I cranked on the yard and house this weekend. I went with a glossy black door! (this is not my door) Now I need to order the knocker and paint the interior of the door black! (my bf isn't sold on this idea yet but I like it!)
4. I'm itching to purchase some items for my trip to Bermuda in June. I love scarfs and wear them all the time. I'd wear this Lilly scarf with jeans and a white t!
5. I also need new pjs! I'd love a comfy classic pair by three J NYC.

Love the look...the tunic

The warm weather has finally arrived in Boston!! I recently came across this image of Tory in a fabulous tunic. It's from one of her early collections. (maybe they should put it into reproduction). It got me thinking about my summer wardrobe and my trip to Bermuda. I'm planning to purchase a few new items and a fun tunic might just make my shopping list. They are easy to dress both up and down! I especially love them with shorts and a great pair of sandals...Here is a sampling of some available online now!

Knock, knock.

Classic Samuel Heath door knocker

Happy Friday!! It has been a busy week. (no surprise there) I had a little health scare this week that sort of stopped me in my tracks and made me assess my life a little. We would all love to slow down wouldn't we? But who has time? I mean working out is something I do for myself and it also keeps me sane but half the time I'm flying to the gym just to squeeze in a 1/2 an hour run before I have to jet to grab my children at separate child care providers. Eek!! Blogging is actually somewhat an escape for me but there wasn't five minutes for that this week. (hence no blog posts until this am). As it is my son's school is closed today for teacher conferences so the poor guy is watching re-runs of the Flintstones. (Yes, I have the mother guilt thing going on too - I def. need to set aside some time to work on a little project or take him to lunch today). I love my job and clients etc...and don't mind being a busy bee I do need to squeeze in a bit more zen time...

The good news is I was actually able to spend some time last Sunday purchasing and hanging a new front storm door for my house. Matty and I completed the task in three hours and were quite pleased with ourselves.

My plan is to paint my front door this weekend but I'm truly torn on the color. I'm actually leaning towards painting the door high gloss black and purchasing a fabulous door knocker instead. I would love to paint the door coral or some shade of aqua (above and below) but my fear is I won't like it with the black storm door. I have no choice but to have a storm door year round in N.E. and I'm not painting that! It's perfect right now and looks just like this one in the photo below. I'll have to add color to the front of the house in some way. I'm also going to plant flowers and box woods along the front of the house..Now I need to decide what type of knocker to purchase. I do know it needs to make a statement, no small knockers on this house! (no pun intended) - Below are some inspiration shots and links to sites that sell pretty door knockers.

The bee is available here
How I hope the door turns out!

I live on the marsh and five minutes from the beach so something nautical is fitting. Foxes have long been my good luck symbol too. I think I've narrowed it down to one of those choices. I also love both nickel and brass! decisions...decisions...
